CDRC-Boston celebrates 3 1/2 years of community design at the second annual Spring 2010 Project Showcase

[Jun-9-2010]

For Immediate Release

On Thursday, June 3rd, 2010, CDRC-Boston was joined by a wide array of supporters, volunteers, government officials, and community leaders in celebration of the 2010 Project Showcase. Over the past 3 1/2 years, CDRC has made a significant impact on 21 different community organizations and municipalities, engaging over 48 design firms and providing a combined 4,200 hours of design expertise. The value of effort translates into $630,000 worth of preliminary design and engagement services to help communities in need better envision (and begin to implement) their design projects.

The event was held at the Old Corner Book Store in Downtown Crossing in a space donated by Historic Boston Inc. Guests were able to enjoy the work of seven recent projects ranging from the reuse of an industrial riverfront site in Braintree to a community visioning effort in Chelsea and a dynamic new development for the Haley House Bakery and Café in Dudley Square. The festivities wrapped up with an introduction of a new 20 person Advisory Committee and a discussion of impact by our clients.
